Unsettled Pattern for Remainder of the Week; Limited Flood Threat Tomorrow – Thursday

Figure 1. Flood threat graphic from National Weather Service Mobile/Pensacola.

Our region is going to be stuck in a generally wet, unsettled pattern for the remainder of the week.

Coverage of showers/thunderstorms will noticeably increase tomorrow, becoming numerous to widespread. On Wednesday coverage will increase markedly, with widespread showers/storms likely. This weekend rain coverage/chances could potentially trend lower, closer to normal levels.

Periods of heavy rainfall are likely — especially tomorrow and Thursday. There is going to be some potential for flooding (mostly nuisance type)  with stronger storms and any instances of “training.”

Figure 3. Latest 7-day QPF outlook.

Rainfall accumulations between 2 – 3″ can be expected, with locally higher amounts possible (see figure 3).

In addition to heavy rain, gusty winds and frequent cloud to ground lightning could also accompany stronger storms.
